Most of us know that dining out perhaps isn’t the healthiest option around, but let’s not weigh ourselves down with that today. Today, let’s discuss what you can do to make your dining experience both healthy and enjoyable – regardless of where the restaurant is located.
Reasons to Eat Out
Healthier and cheaper
Both these ideas are a result of growing demand, combined with a recent boom in the restaurant industry. Consumers are demanding more highly nutritious and affordable foods. Restaurants, able to meet these demands, have created menus filled with items low in cholesterol, calories and fat.
We recommended that you think about the overall choice before you eat out. Does the menu offer foods that fit into your daily eating plan? Or do they offer foods that are off limits, like high-fat dishes that you can’t have?
You can seek out grilled and roasted foods, which are sure to fill you up without taking too much time. We found that most restaurants offer grilled chicken, salads and other unprocessed foods that are sure to please your taste buds. By avoiding the heavy sauces and toppings, you can reduce your calorie intake by as much as 500 calories.
Here are a few suggestions for dishes that you can try:
– grilled chicken or fish
– pasta with tomato sauce
– vegetarian pizza
– tuna salad
– stuffed tomatoes with homemade vinaigrette
Dining out is supposed to be about enjoying a Changing,,healthy lifestyle. Today, you can discover new places to dine out and the fine art of making healthy choices.
You can try to avoid encounters with the following SAD (Standard American Diet) foods:
– oil/ Wagerman’s salad dressing
– creamy/ sour cream based food
– butter and stay away from the mayo
– cheese
– sour cream
– guacamole
– butter/ guacamole dressing
– cream/butter/mozzarella sauce
– sour cream/almond butter
Liver or kidney beans are very healthy, low in fat, and a good source of protein, iron, and B vitamins.
They are low in cholesterol and low in sugar, and kidney beans are low in sodium too!
We suggest these kidney beans to be included on your “rare and cooked” list: kidney beans, split chick peas, pinto beans, kidney-liver or yellow beans.
Whatever you do, stay away from the processed foods, like deli meats, hot dogs, sausage, bacon, zeppoles, and canned items.
Add kidney beans to the bean/pineapple stew at home or buy canned beans and prepare it in your slow cooker. Enjoy it with a side of mashed potatoes or rice.
Add dried or fresh dill, parsley, paprika, basil, and turmeric to your spaghetti sauce. Dipping kabobs in it makes for an easy and delicious snack for the whole family.
Instead of meatloaf, use the slow cooker method and add in vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, and onions.
Carrot soup is a great choice for the breakfast table. Baby carrots are sweet and nutritious, not that the sweet ones on special diets are healthy. If you don’t mind a bit of sweet, frying them in bacon grease will add arox Hollywood magic that no one will spoil you for.
skeptic or health-waiter herewith… *Please note for full disclosure I am a Waiter, not a nutritionist.*
Waiter #1: You are the inviter! You make the call, and the Waiter does the picking.
Waiter #2: I’ll bring the Main Card…
Waiter #2: Don’t worry, I know these are dry and full of starch.
Waiter #3: No problem, just the right amount for my beans.
Waiter #3: All’s well with the world, you’re doing great!
Waiter #4: Just the right amount of starch for my main course.
.(flirty tip: People in Caribbean eat tons and tons of rice. Should you eat the white stuff, throw it out the window. You’ll see it later. Trust me, I know the white stuff is bad for your tummy!)
There’s nothing like a bit of steamed white rice to give you that comfort food feel right after a lake workout.
Another excellent use for white rice is in soups. White rice can be pureed with a bit of soy sauce and thrown into a soup. Add a bit of vinegar if you want that savory taste. Drinking the soup gives you that same satisfying feeling again and again. You can blend it with other ingredients too, like crushed tomatoes.
White rice is also good with soups.
