Low Carb Diet Food – Good For Health?

With all of the talk of (and hype about) low carb diet food you are probably trying to figure out which of the many products, supplements and books you should buy. You are probably also trying to figure out which of these so-called low carb diet food plans will work best for you. If this is the case, you definitely are not alone in your quest to truly understand which foods you should eat to optimize your health.

You see so many reports are claiming that low carb diet food is some magical food that will strip the pounds away. While it is true that a low carb diet food plan can help you to lose weight, a renowned University of Arizona nutrition researcher has shown that what you eat for your other main meal, lunch, may equally determine how these pounds will stay off. Furthermore, you may not be able to lose weight if you do not enjoy your lunch meal. I know that the word “lunch” means different things to different people. To you, a lunch may mean an early afternoon start at work or school or the end of a long day. To others it may mean a quick bite while chasing work/school progress. Either way, everyone starts to mail in the morning and most of us must still eat something by mid-afternoon.

The way we eat at lunch is so important. Your metabolism is running high from the start of your day, but most of what you consume in the morning so far is based on cravings. These cravings initiate your eating routine and you will continue to snack until you have something that satisfies the craving. That is why just throwing a salad together is not a good idea. Even if you are eating a healthy salad there is a good chance it will not be satisfying a full meal. By the time you get to the salad your body is probably running on empty and you’ll have consumed probably ten hundred calories. So much better to have a sandwich right away. If you have more time the best option is to make your own salad dressing. That way you can create salad dressing with whatever spices or herbs are left in your container. A quick trip to the general store gives you many options at prices that will keep you in business until 12pm.

Your eating routine for the day should be primarily a meat and two carbohydrate lunch. Together they keep your blood sugar stable and feed your body what it needs to function. But even with a proper lunch it is best to avoid a full meal at 12pm. If you do eat a full meal, do not eat as much as you did in the morning. Instead drink water and plenty of it. Is it possible to ever enjoy a diet of completely raw food? I believe it is possible but not easy. You can’t totally burn fat with emotional eating and so much of your food is loaded with chemicals. The lack of nutrition in your diet and the toxins in your body will lead to emotional eating, just like it does with crash or fad diets.

What you do need is a diet that is balanced. Then you can eat as much of the right things as you want – raw or cooked and forget the rest.

Building a balanced diet doesn’t mean just eating one way and staying on it. You need a diet that is truly healthy and loaded with nutrition.

If you are building a healthy balanced diet, you need to monitor your protein intake as well. Protein is the building blocks of muscle and without it, your body can’t build muscle. Generally, you need to aim for 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, but if you are working out, you need to factor that in too. If you are in a calorie deficit, you may do better with half a gram of protein per pound of body weight or even less.

The rest of your macronutrients are pretty simple. You need fats, which you can break down into fatty acids like omega-3s and omega-6s – and in moderation. Your carbohydrates should be complex, and any kind of fruit you can find. And you should definitely put some fat in your smoothie!

The only thing left out of building a balanced diet is salt. You do need some sodium in your diet, but not excessive amounts. Your body will store salt in your body and salt is necessary for regulating blood pressure, which is why salt is one of the things you need to remove from your diet. The typical gourmet dishes that contain a lot of salt likeagna vinaigrette suffices the recommended amount for most people and don’t add additional salt. Too much salt in your diet raises your blood pressure for the worst possible reasons.

There are gourmet dishes that do require a lot of salt. Broccoli stir fry, white beans, and meatloaf are three.
